MEN OF THE MIND
Muscle without mind is vain,
Like lightning on a lonely plain,
Crashing with a   blast and blaze
And no eye nor ear to thrill,  amaze,
Echoing where no one dwelt,
Light and heat,   unseen, unfelt;
But raucous blasters in the pit,
Cursing midst the grime and grit,
Burrowing  through clod and clay,
Commanding nature to obey,
Demanding the goddess to unlock
Glittering riches of the rock!

(Builders,  miners,  oil men  adhere to Francis Bacon’s  wonderful maxim,  “Nature to  be commanded must be obeyed.”)

MEN OF THE MIND

Muscle without mind is vain,

Like lightning on a lonely plain,

Crashing with a   blast and blaze

And no eye nor ear to thrill,  amaze,

Echoing where no one dwelt,

Light and heat,   unseen, unfelt;

But raucous blasters in the pit,

Cursing midst the grime and grit,

Burrowed  through the clod and clay,

Commanding nature to obey,

Demanding the goddess to unlock

Glittering riches of the rock!
